Ride is perhaps the closest I ever got to making actual dance music (save for some stuff on No Strings Attached next year), which still doesn't say much, as it's full of very detailed layers, twists and breaks, starts and stops and floating clouds of color. Conceived as the counterweight for Goodbye and Things Have Changed, Ride is deliberately more lively and energetic, but it still retains the same attention to detail. Because it's so forward-thinking and brightly colored, it might generally be more easily digestible and enjoyable to listen than other albums - there's no drama to sink in. It's just a Ride!
